What is HHC?

What is HHC

Some savvier consumers may have already heard of Delta 8 THC, a less potent but easier-to-ship THC type. HHC is not THC. But for curious consumers, it can become a unique way of getting the same effects as THC, albeit a bit easier to manage.

HHC, also known as hexahydrocannabinol, is a relatively new compound in the world of cannabis. It has gained popularity in recent times, but what exactly is HHC cannabinoid and what makes it unique?

So what is HHC?

HHC is a derived substance that imitates the effect of marijuana and has a similar chemical structure to THC, the well-known psychoactive compound found in cannabis. However, HHC is different from THC in that it is a cyclic analogue of THC, meaning that its molecular structure is different. This difference in structure leads to different effects on the body.

HHC was discovered in 1944, when Roger Adams, an American chemist, added hydrogen molecules to Delta 9 THC.

This process takes THC and turns it into hexahydrocannabinol ( HHC). This substance can be ingested in many of the same ways as THC and Delta 8.

What makes HHC different from other THC variants?

In terms of potency, HHC is thought to be weaker than delta-9 THC but stronger than delta-8 THC. This means that users who consume HHC can still remain focused and get on with their activities unlike with Delta-9 THC. However, this doesn't mean that HHC is less effective. It is still a potent cannabinoid that can produce the desired effects for users.

What are the Effects of HHC?

Research on HHC is still limited, and more studies are needed to fully understand its effects on the body. However, initial research suggests that HHC may have potential therapeutic benefits. For example, a study conducted on mice found that HHC had anti-inflammatory properties, which could make it useful for pain relief.

Is HHC legal?

Under the 2018 Farm Act, any substance derived from .3% THC or lower Hemp is legal to produce and consume.

Because HHC is not actually a THC product, it currently rests in a legal loophole zone, but check with your local state laws in order to prepare yourself in the case of a legal problem.

Will HHC show up on Drug Tests?

There has been some speculation that HHC will not get flagged on normal urine drug tests, but these claims have not been confirmed.

Due to HHC’s recent popularity, it is also possible that HHC is not being checked for in most standard drug tests. Again though more research on this needs to come out.

Is HHC safe to consume?

While HHC is gaining popularity, it is important to note that it is a synthetic compound. Synthetic cannabinoids can be more dangerous than natural cannabinoids like THC, and users should exercise caution when consuming them.

To safely and legally consume HHC, buy from a brand that is using premium-quality HHC in their products and check your local laws before purchasing.
